Here We Go...

Alright so it's 3 am and I've been trying to fall asleep for the past 2 hrs---it's not working. I can't stop thinking about all of the things that are about to happen. I'm officially 39 wks and I'm going in for an induction exactly 24 hrs from now. Why, you ask? Because I'm impatient...and because I can :). One of the perks of being an L&D nurse is that your doctor, whom you work with daily, is totally cool with inducing you a week early even for your first baby. (Sorry to all those out there who have had to suffer with an additional few weeks of pregnancy). In fact, he pretty much let me schedule my own induction. As much as I would have loved to experience going into labor on my own...I'm done waiting :). And with my mom coming on Sunday and only being here a little over a week...I'd rather hang out in the comfort of my home than sit in a hospital room with her for the entire visit. Nathan is more than excited for an excuse to get out of school for a few days (I think he's a little excited about the baby too). And I told my doctor that if my body doesn't seem to be ready for induction once we get started I'd rather go home as a 'failed induction' and try again later than push it...so don't worry, I'll be smart about things. So that's that. I'm now in panic mode. This whole time I felt so calm about everything...didn't expect to be nervous about labor and delivery at all...but I'll admit that as it's coming down to the finish, I'm a little on edge. I suddenly feel totally unprepared. And we have yet to come up with a name for our child. I hope seeing him will help me with that decision. I am going to try and cram as much cleaning/shopping/movie watching/relaxing/sleeping/etc into the next 24 hrs as I can. I'll let you know how it goes.

So that's it for the update. Hopefully the next post will be the joyful announcement of the birth of Baby Boy Larson. Here are just a few shots of the last couple weeks of my pregnancy. I have been so spoiled by all of the wonderful friends I have around me! The girls from work threw me another baby shower a couple weeks ago...and then my ward threw me one a week later. It has been so fun! I'm so grateful for everyone's generosity and willingness to serve. Thank you everyone!
Work Baby Shower at Tagliani's...

Me and all the other pregnant chickas in my ward!
An awesome quilt that Camille made me! Everyone helped tie it at the shower. I love it!
So creative! Fruit salad in a buggy! Great idea!

Okay, so this is a little bit of a surprise! And VERY exciting! Don't be nervous. Well, that might be silly to say. I think every one gets nervous, but once you're in there, something happens and you'll be calm and relaxed and you'll know you can do it (maybe be you don't have a choice). Any ways, I wish I could be there! Kristie told me yesterday that you took my favorite name out of the running. I was sad, but it's okay because it's YOUR baby! =) Alright, well keep us all posted. Call me today when you're up and about! I love you and Phil and I will be praying for all three of you! Hang in there baby Larson, just a little longer! Good luck, Jess, you'll do great!

Hey cute little pregnant girl! You look awesome! Good luck with everything! There is something about being a l&d nurse that makes your own delivery even more nerve-racking! But use that knowledge, and the fact that you are in good hands with friends and a great doctor whom you trust, to get you through! I can't wait to see pictures!!!

So I am so excited for you to have the experience of giving birth. It is going to be wonderful!!! I loved being an L&D nurse and getting the perspective of the patient. I am SO SO SO excited for you to be a mom - you are going to be fantastic! Anyway, I will be thinking of you today. By the way - I think that 39 weeks is awesome - and thank goodness for inductions, right?? :) Good luck and enjoy it!!!

I loved reading your post because now I feel better knowing I wasn't the only one who was awake at 3am the night before my induction (when I was scheduled to be at Orem at 5:30am...) It was Ryan's birthday and we had planned to go to Tucano's, before we learned that Dr. Judd (and Kendra) had made awesome plans for me to be induced the next day! Suddenly, we were so nervous! Neither of us could eat anything and I started to wonder if I was really prepared for it all with all the same worries and concerns you mentioned. But of course, it turned out perfectly. I wish you the very best and will be thinking about you! We can't wait to see pictures of this little boy!

Hurray!!! it is nerve racking, but somehow when you get there you don't worry about all the little things anymore, you just want to meet the little stinker. I am excited for you and Nate and wish I could be there. Maybe your mom can pack me and Kait in her suitcase. Make sure to eat something delicious! I didn't get the opportunity to eat anything, and had to have a Bologna sandwich after all was said and done. I don't like Bologna but it sure was tasty at the time. I just would have rather had a say in my "last supper" so to speak. We'll be praying for you that all will go well, and can't wait to hear the good news!

Love you!!!!

hooray for an end to your pregnancy!!! and then you can join the company of your overly-hormonal former roommate:) i in no way, shape, or form resent you for having him earlier than i did. i wouldn't wish that on a dog i didn't like. and i DO like you, and you are, in fact, NOT a dog. and you know, names are totally overrated. i mostly call dallin "my little man" - he hardly ever hears his name anyway.

oh jess, i'm just so happy for you! and i agree with jerai - you do look AMAZING! (if you don't believe me - go look at the picture of me at 40.5 weeks. woof. it'll make you feel really good about you:)

Jess! Oh my gosh how fun to finally be at the big 39 weeks! Isn't it great having the hookups and the knowledge to know how far is too far to push things (failed induction is much better than a C/S due to failure to progress as a primip at 39 weeks :)) I'm excited for you and hope everything goes great (I'm sure it will!). Enjoy your experience!
