Our whole family had been looking forward to the summer so much--mostly because we knew it would bring a visit from Omi & Opi! The dates got moved around a bit, but finally in the middle of July, we were on our way to the airport to pick them up!! It was such a happy reunion! A whole year of not seeing each other was way too long!!!
The first day after arriving in Germany, we made the trek up to Kristel and Lelli's houses in Frankfurt. It was supposed to be Lelli & her husband, Frank's, 50th birthday celebrations. It turned into a birthday/funeral. Kristel's ex-husband (and Lelli's dad) had passed away unexpectedly the week before. It was nice to see everyone, despite the occasion.
A couple of days later, we headed to East Germany. We spent the night with our family there, and then Ute (my mom's cousin) and her husband, Dieter, drove with us to Prague. We spent two wonderful days in Prague. It was an amazing city. I didn't expect it to be so cool, actually. I'm starting to feel like most European cities are similar. But Prague really felt unique. We did a lot of walking during those couple of days, but the kids were troopers and we all managed to have a lot of fun. On our way home, we stopped in Nuremberg just to check it out. A quick walk around the city with lunch by the river, and then we hopped back in the car. Honestly, Nuremberg wasn't the most impressive place we've seen. Kind of underwhelming.
We went to this really fun restaurant in Prague where the food is brought out to you on a little train. The kids thought it was SO cool!
Our stop in Nuremberg:
We went to the Homburg Flea Market on the Saturday after our trip to Prague--you can always find fun treasures there :).
